I’m tired of poems
Ending with
“And you”
Holding my breath through archetypes of someone else’s lonesomeness
I’m tired of pretending
That you’re the last thing that comes to mind when I think of heartache
love:
“You adore me, you love me, you cherish me, you can’t live without me “.

It’s hard to not choke up when I think of you.
Some of the most beautiful memories I have are from when we were in love.
“I watch the edge of his face in the dark. Its beauty is part of what binds me to him. I don’t know how to make this sound virtuous.”— Anne Carson, from “Part V: The Anthropology of Water,” Plainwater: Essays and Poetry (via lifeinpoetry)
